At the Cube we conduct ourselves by (and teach others to adhere to) three core values:
...but we don't stop there.
With the understanding that technology is reshaping our world, as we grow we will seek to provide scholarships to aspiring software engineers, and to fund the development of new software that is a bled between innovation and fun with a focus on education and/or community.
The world can be a dangerous and hostile placce, but at The Cube Server Inc., we have worked for more than three years to create a safe-haven for children and young alduts; an online environment that is friendly, free from discrimination and that is welcoming to all. This ideal, focused on our three core values of, "Be friendly", "Cause No Grief" and "Always do what is best for the community", has resulted in our formation as a pubblic charity in January of 2014. Having had more than 2,000,000 children and young adults pass through our servers, and seeing their diverse and multiple needs, we have developed three programs within our charitable endeavors, known as Charity³, Education³ and Community³. Through these programs, we reach out, specifically, to children with life threateing illnesses, students and aspirants of the fields of software engineering and developing, and to children across the world who yearn for a place to belong.
Through our Charity³ program, we reach out to children with life threatening illnesses, such as cancer, to provide substantial, psychological relief during their treatment. Through our direct interaction with these children, we combat the psychological effects of physiological changes and isolation that are an unfortunate side-effect of physiological changes and isolation that are an unfortunate side-effect of treatments such as surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. We begin by providing these children and young adults with a professional-grade laptop, fully loaded with games and software that is custom tailored to their interests and needs. We then outfit the laptop with peripherals that are selsected to meet the individual, physiological demands and psychological interests. Next, we provide VIP access to all of the servers within our network, allowing the recipient a window to the world where they can avoid social isolation, and be treated as if they had never even fallen ill. Finally, we provide them their own, private social network where they can utilize our various servers to stay in touch with both friends and family, who may do so for free, 24 hours a day, in our white-listed voice servers. Our private game servers, hidden from publicc view and accessible only by the recipients, their family and close friends, and by our staff, provide them with the ability to find the specialized, individual support they need from time to time, during the more severe portions of their treatments. Our goal for 2015 is to provide 100 such experiences for children and young adults with life threatening illnesses.
Through the internet, the face of society is changing. Now, struggles with depression, loneliness and a sense of belonging result in the measurable problems such as cyber-bullying, an increase in cyber-crimes and in the real-world tragedies of teen-suicides and school-shootings. Through the years, many programs have arisen to address such issues as bullying, suicide, violence and other crimes, but with the advent of the internet, a new method exists with which to reach more children in farther flung recesses than ever before: online gaming. Through the utilization of online games, we have spent more than three years growing a thriving online community, centered on our servers. The existence of this community has resulted in numerous testaments of adolescents and teenagers, who found a refuge from bullying, friendships they never thought they could make, and even found the will to go on living when they had been contemplating taking their own lives. We have shown them love and respect that they didn’t know existed, and we desire to continue to expand our capabilities of meeting this severe, social need within our global community. We have met this need through our employ of faithful staff and our large network of over 200 volunteers. As we continue to grow, we seek to meet the needs of the general public by increasing the scope of games we host, the size of our web networks, the volume of our staff and volunteers and in the incorporation of licensed counselors into our ranks. We presently are capable of meeting the needs of about 10,000 regular users. Our goal for 2015 is to expand our capabilities to meeting the needs of 30,000 regular users.
Our Education³ program focusses on the software engineers of tomorrow, with the goal of fostering a workforce that is well-educated, experienced and focused on both innovation and community. This is accomplished through three phases. First, we provide scholarships to aspiring software engineers, developers and S.T.E.M. majors, in a value of up to $15,000. Second, we provide them a real-world environment within which to hone their skills that is cutting edge, heavily utilized, steadily moderated and yet is forgiving to the mistakes that inexperienced developers will inevitably make. Lastly, we provide funding for projects that are innovative, community focused and free to all. All of this is done on our own, privately hosted server nodes. We maintain multiple, behind-the-scenes servers for development purposes, in addition to that which is accessible by the general public and recipients of our charitable services. Our servers are a perpetual learning environment where the seasoned work alongside the unseasoned, providing experience to those new to the field and fresh ideas to the highly-experienced. The fortunate side effect, and added benefit to the public, is the substantially lower cost at which we can provide our web services to all other facets of our charity, through the utilization of Education³. A typical company would spend millions to achieve what we are capable of doing with a few hundred thousand dollars. Our goal for 2015 is to provide 20 scholarships and grants, and maintain development servers to match, for the Education³ program.
Cancer (and other life threatening illnesses) creates suffering beyond just the effects of the illness itself. The social ramifications stretch for years to come, often negatively impacting every facet of life. We aim to change that by providing gaming laptops to children with life threatening illnesses, and by housing a global community they can be a part of. The lasting friendships they form in our safe, thriving community help to alleviate their suffering, and change, for the better, the lives of all those involved in our community; especially those with the life threatening illnesses, themselves. We provide more than laptops; we provide a catalyst of positive change in lives around the entire world.
Having only become a 501(c)(3) entity this year, here-to-fore our servers have sustained themselves with micro-transactions, in-game purchases and online-donations. This has enabled us to service two children, this year, through our Charity³ program, one student through our Education³ program, approximately 10,000 children through our Community³ program, and enabled us to pass 2,000,000 individual hits in web traffic. Now, being recognized as a public charity, we turn to the public to help us further our capabilities and achieve our ambitious, yet realistic goals.
